As 4th and 5th graders, we had a lot of schema and knowledge about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., so doing a normal research project on him just wasn't enough. Our class broke into pairs and then drew a song that Mrs. Kemp had selected, out of a hat. From this song we had to analyze the lyrics and then research Martin through the lense of the message our song gave. We worked so hard researching this incredible man and it was very thought provoking by only incorporating facts that supported our individual essential questions.
From our research, we created a video that represented our song and how Martin Luther King, Jr. represented that song's message.
We had a VIP video premier to show off our videos, including a red carpet and all!
